Officers from the Milford Police Department responded to Advanced Auto Parts on Boston Post Road shortly before 2:15 p.m. on Wednesday, April 3, where there was a report of a possible shoplifter.
Police said that the investigation into the alleged shoplifting led to the arrest of Hamden resident William Meinhold, 26. Further investigation determined that Meinhold had three active warrants for his arrest.
According to police, Meinhold is accused of failing to appear in court twice last month following arrests in Hamden and East Haven on charges that include larceny and breach of peace stemming from incidents earlier this year.
At the time of his arrest, police said that Meinhold was also in possession of drugs, though he was found to be in possession of no stolen items at the time of his arrest.
Meinhold was taken into custody and charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and three counts of failure to appear in court. He is currently being held in lieu of $7,500 bond. No return court date has been announced.
